RACHEL MARIE ABRAHAM (GM05278)
ASSIGNMENT 1

      1.  When was the last time you used a payphone? How often have you used a payphone in the last year?

The last time I used a payphone was during my secondary school time which was in year 2000. It has been 14 years since I have used a payphone. In the last year I have used the payphone only once when my car broke down in the middle of nowhere and I didn’t have my cell phone with me. I felt disgusted even using it because the technology has changed drastically.

2.  If u you needed to use a payphone, would you know immediately where one was located?

If I needed to use a payphone immediately, I definitely would not be able to locate one. Before smart phone was introduced, there were payphones located almost everywhere and most of it were functional. The payphones are now very much vandalized and not properly maintained because it is hardly in use. It is meant for the very low income group who cannot afford a cell phone or used in times of emergencies.

      3.  When was the last time you used your cell phone? How often have you used your cell phone in the last day?

I used my cell phone 5 minutes ago to send some emails out to my colleagues. I am very dependent on my phone to plan my day out and to keep in touch with people. I use my cell phone all the time not only to call but to use the internet for many reasons. A few years ago, making local calls and international calls were expensive, but internet now has made it simple and cheap for people to stay connected and organize.
